AEO
Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)
Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is the work that makes your content the source of the reply to a specific question — not a link at the bottom of a list, but the answer itself. aiseo42 does this done-for-you: we identify the questions that actually bring buyers, and work to make your business the named answer to them.
What is answer engine optimization?
Answer engine optimization starts from the fact that search has turned into a question-and-answer exchange. People no longer type keywords, they ask something — and get a single answer. AEO is the work that makes your content the source of that answer: in AI assistants, in Google's AI responses and in answer boxes.
The difference from generative engine optimization is one of emphasis, not principle. GEO asks whether you get mentioned at all, across a broad set of questions; AEO concentrates on the specific questions that bring buyers — comparisons, price, fit, objections. In practice they are two views of the same work, which is why we run them in one programme.
What AEO does not solve: if you have no real answer to the question, there is nothing to optimize. The first half of the work is always deciding which questions you have a genuine, substantive and true answer to — everything else follows from that.
How do you know you need AEO?
If two of these are true for you, there is something to win here — and the free aiseo42 check measures exactly that, with no commitment.
-
Plenty of impressions, few clicks
Search engines show your page, but nobody comes through, because the answer was already given on the results page. The ranking isn't the problem — the answer just isn't attributed to you.
-
The same questions keep coming to you
If a question comes up weekly in your enquiries, the market is typing it into search too. Whoever answers it publicly and cleanly is who the model will cite.
-
Someone else gets named in the comparisons
"X or Y" questions are the last step before purchase. Whoever appears in those answers makes the shortlist — the rest are never mentioned.
-
Your content is good but not quotable
Models struggle to lift a claim out of long, circling prose. What they can take is the factual paragraph that stands on its own — a question of form, and fixable in form.
What do you get?
-
The list of buying questions
We go through how decisions actually start in your market and which questions genuinely lead to an order. That list is useful on its own — even if you never work with us again.
-
Presence in the direct answers
We work to make your content the named source for those questions inside AI assistants and Google's AI responses.
-
Objections answered
A public, fair answer to "why is it more expensive", "what if it doesn't work out", "will it fit my case" does two jobs at once: quotable content and a sales asset.
-
A monthly report with numbers
Per question: did you appear, who appeared instead, did it move since last month. Nothing for you to run.
aiseo42 does not publish its method and does not sell a course built on it. The advantage it creates is an advantage precisely because your competitor cannot see it.
When should you not choose us?
- If you have no real answer to the question. AEO cannot manufacture authority out of nothing. Without experience and data in the subject, forced presence is a bad deal: the first client conversation will expose it.
- If you live purely on brand search. If your customers look for you by name and no enquiries arrive through questions, this work has a low return for you. We'll say so honestly after the free check.
- If you'd rather not share the content. The price of being quotable is that the answer is public. If all your knowledge stays behind a closed door there is nothing to quote — we respect that, but then another channel suits you better.
- If you're thinking of a single campaign. Source selection in answer engines keeps moving; the effect of a one-off intervention wears off. It's continuous work, or it isn't worth starting.
How will you know it works?
AEO is measured question by question, which makes it very concrete: every month we ask the same questions on the same surfaces and record the answer. You don't get an aggregate visibility score — you get what is actually said for your questions.
The report also flags when the answer is about you but wrong. That matters as much as absence: an outdated price or a discontinued service in an AI answer actively harms you, and it can be fixed as separate work.
The signals measurable on your own surfaces — whether the answer engines' crawlers reach your content, whether visitors already arrive from AI surfaces — come from your server, so they are verifiable rather than numbers we hand you.
If halfway through it turns out that presence is up but enquiries are not, we say so and change the question list. Measurement that can only bring good news isn't measurement.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between AEO and GEO?
Emphasis. GEO asks whether your business gets named in AI answers at all, across a broad set of questions. AEO concentrates on the specific questions that bring buyers, and on making your content the direct answer to them. In practice they are two views of the same work, so they run in one programme.
How do you know which questions bring buyers?
From three sources: your own experience of what enquirers ask, the market's search data, and where a given question sits in the decision. Comparison, price and fit questions sit closest to an order.
Is this the same as optimizing for featured snippets?
Related, but broader. A featured snippet is one surface on Google; AEO carries the same logic through AI assistants and AI answers, where what appears is written text rather than a link, with or without an attributed source.
Does it require writing new content?
Often yes, but rarely a lot. Frequently it's the form of existing knowledge that has to change, not the volume. What exactly is needed comes out of the free check and is itemised in the proposal.
Is AEO a one-off job or ongoing work?
Both exist, and aiseo42 tells you up front which one you need. If your question set is stable — the typical questions of a professional service, say — a well-written answer layer keeps working for years and only needs an annual review. If your market moves fast, or you compete with named rivals for the same questions, it has to be ongoing, because the sources behind an answer rotate monthly. We do not sell a monthly retainer for a one-off job.
Which question do you want to be the answer to?
Tell us, and we'll look at what gets said today — free, and the findings stay yours even if you never ask for a proposal.
